So being that the Can-Am Maverick was a fairly quiet vehicle to begin with we decided to put our New Suppression Inserts to the test. We got a louder vehicle…the Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000. We all know that the loudest Side x Side on the market is the RZR 900 but we didn’t happen to have one of those laying around for testing so we figured the Wildcat would do. When we did the first test we knew we broke the 100 Db mark with our Full Stage IV exhaust system. It had quite a bit of rumble to it (which I like in my opinion) but its not for everyone.

Test #1

SAE J2825 Standards states that any OHV or Motorcycle should comply with the decibel  standards of 96 Db or less. In order to get this reading (accurately) you will need to test in a dirt field away from roads, freeways etc. Well we did just that. It also states in the revised standard that you must be 20 inches away from the tip of the exhaust (not 4 feet like the old standard) while standing at a 45 degree angle. Compared to the old standard of 4 ft we figured there was no way we could engineer an insert that would comply with the new 20 in standard…well we did. Our initial test with no inserts we got a loud 102.6 Db reading which is extremely far off from the standard.

Test #2

Well we know our exhaust is obviously a bit on the loud side so we put our new Suppression Insert inside and bam… less noise. We dropped 7.2 Db down to a quiet 95.4 Db. Right under SAE Standards. Don’t believe us watch the Suppression Inserts in action below.

Wildcat 1000 Suppression Insert Sound Test

Time and time again companies have pushed their R&D Department over the edge…we’ve done the same. The Trinity R&D Department have worked extremely hard to developer a New Suppression Insert for our exhaust system that makes power and torque while keep the noise level down. Despite what some may think its possible.

Can-Am Maverick 1000R Db Test

The Can-Am Maverick 1000R was where we begun. We stuck a Trinity Racing Full Stage IV Dual Exhaust System on the car and tested the Db readings. To our surprise the car was actually quiet compared to other applications (RZR 900, Wildcat 1000), but it still wasn’t SAE J2825 Standards Complient which is to have an exhaust system under 96Db. The Maverick was at  99.3 Db with our exhaust and Spark Arrestor Screens.

Next we installed our new Suppression Inserts and ran the test again. We were able to drop 4.8 Db and bring the total Db down to 94.5 Db. Mission accomplished but the next thing that came to mind was what kind of power loss will be at hand becuase when you think quiet you think power loss.

The Polygraph Room A.K.A The Dyno Room

Well to see if our new suppression inserts stood by our name we put the Maverick on our Superflow CycleDyn Dyno. At first we figured at least a few horsepower loss being that we choked the exhaust to make it quiet…we were wrong. We engineered the insert so well that we made power and torque.

It was phenomenal. Sure you’re think its only a 3.3WHP gain…well yeah but you gotta remember all that changed was an insert. That’s a substantial increase for an insert. If you still don’t believe us see for yourself and watch the video below.

Trinity Racing XP900 Turbo Kit

The editors at UTV Offroad contacted us awhile ago asking about our Arctic Cat. Back when they first contacted us we only had begun the building stages of our new turbo kit. Since our kit wasn’t complete yet they wanted to test our car to compare before and after….We Said “Sure, Why Not”.

A month later after their test they wrote of this article about their findings and our Wildcat. This XP 900 was sent to us brand new directly from Bert’s Mega Mall. The owner Hoyt had a vision for this XP 900 and we made sure we brought it to life. When he received his car back he couldn’t of been happier. He took the car to the dunes and said it ran like a champ and was super reliable with a great amount of power.
